Every year, about 300 patients apply for financial assistance to see them through dental treatment. Lacking the sufficient income to meet daily living needs, these patients from financially needy families often choose
to forego dental treatment, not realising the negative effects of an unhealthy or incomplete set of teeth.
The Tooth Fairy Fund was started by NDCS staff in 2007 to help needy patients with their dental bills. These patients fall out of the safety net, and have medical conditions or complex dental conditions which require oral rehabilitation. Staff contribute to this fund directly, or raise funds through various activities. Various organizations have also been generous in their contributions.

Giving to the Community - Community Outreach
NDCS actively participates in community health activities such as free dental health screening and visits to welfare homes. Our staff support the annual President's Challenge community outreach campaign, together with staff of other SingHealth institutions. NDCS dentists, on their own time, provide free dental care in various outreach programmes locally and to neighbouring countries such as Indonesia, India and Mongolia.
