Our Oral Healthcare Team

Our Oral Healthcare Team
NDCS is a Specialist Dental Care provider that delivers quality oral healthcare to every patient through integrated clinical practice. Our priority is to help you achieve and maintain optimum oral health for your overall well-being.

As a patient of NDCS, you will be cared for by a team of professionals including:

Specialists
Our specialists have further qualifications in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Paediatric Dentistry, Endodontics, Periodontics or Prosthodontics. Many have received advanced training in subspecialty fields after graduating with a specialty postgraduate degree.

Specialists and general dentists often work together to manage cases. This benefits patients who need tertiary care due to the complexity of their medical conditions.

NDCS is also a training institution. Your team of clinical staff may include residents who are dentists-in-post graduate specialty training and qualified dental officers who support specialists in simpler aspects of care. All residents, dental officers or oral health therapists are closely supervised by specialists as they care for patients.

Oral Health Therapists (OHT)
Oral health therapists work with dentists to maintain patients' oral health, educate patients on oral hygiene instructions and prescribe personalised methods to prevent oral disease. They also monitor the overall oral well-being of patients through regular follow up and reviews. At the NDCS, they attend to patients referred by dentists for scaling and polishing in periodontal or orthodontic cases. They also perform fillings for young patients. OHTs working at NDCS have specific healthcare training and are supervised by dentists.

Dental Surgery Assistants
Safe and efficient dental care is possible with the valuable assistance provided by Dental Surgery Assistants (DSA). DSAs ensure the dental environment is properly sterilised and prepare all materials and instruments needed during treatment. Indispensable in "four-handed" chairside treatment procedures, DSAs keep patients comfortable before and during procedures and inform them of their upcoming dental appointments. At NDCS, DSAs receive more than 40hrs of training every year to keep their skills up to date with the dentists they support.

Dental Technicians
Each crown, denture or bridge has to be created to specifically fit the patient's individual needs, because every tooth is different in size and shape. Dental technicians work closely with dentists and patients to ensure each handcrafted piece is functional, meets a high standard of quality and is delivered on time. At NDCS, dental technicians work in three fully-equipped dental laboratories where they are guided by experienced mentors who help them continually refine their skills.
