Drug Class: Commonly Known As: Category:
Antiretroviral Agent Kivexa® Adult, Children

Kivexa® (Abacavir / Lamivudine) - Dosage and How to Use

How should Kivexa® (Abacavir / Lamivudine) be used?

Kivexa® is given once daily, usually in combination with other antiretroviral agents, to achieve significant decrease in viral load.

Kivexa® can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablets whole, with some water.

What should I do if I miss a dose?

Missing doses makes Kivexa® less effective and may also make the virus resistant to Kivexa® and other possible antiretroviral agents. This could make the virus harder to treat.

If you forgot to take Kivexa®, take the dose as soon as you remember and then continue to take it at the usual timing. Otherwise, if it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double or increase the dose.

What should I do if I overdose?
