Oral Medicine Unit

Oral Medicine is a dental specialty dealing with oral health care of patients with medically related disorders in the oral and maxillofacial regions. It involves the diagnosis and management of these chronic, recurrent medical disorders affecting the oral soft tissues. It is the link between dentistry and medicine as oral signs and symptoms can give clues to one's general health. The unit specialises in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of chronic, recurrent and medically related oral disorders of the oral and maxillofacial region such as oral pre-cancerous lesions, autoimmune inflammatory mucocutaneous diseases, burning mouth syndrome, drug induced oral reactions and oral manifestations of infectious diseases.
