When the 3D Simulation Unit was set up at NDCS in 2013, it used 3D images and 3D technology to pre-plan surgery for patients who had difficulty chewing and speaking properly due to jaw issues.
Today, the unit "prints" advanced 3D models of patients' jaws and skulls as well as cutting guides for complex corrective jaw surgeries. 3D technology saves time, improves diagnosis and lets surgeons plan surgeries more accurately. The images also help surgeons explain the procedure to patients clearly.
