Dr Chee Hoe Kit is a Senior Consultant from the Periodontics Unit of the Department of Restorative Dentistry, National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) since 2005.
Before joining NDCS, he had worked for 5 years in the public and private sectors before returning to National University of Singapore (NUS) to further specialise a Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontology from 2003-2006.
He attained his Membership in Restorative Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2006.
In 2009, Dr Chee was accredited the Singapore Dental Specialist Board as a periodontist after completing the advanced specialty training in NDCS.
From 2009-2010, he was awarded a SingHealth Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) award in ‘Periodontal Plastic Surgery around Natural Teeth & Implants and Guided Bone Regeneration’ at the Department of Periodontics, University of Washington School of Dentistry in Seattle, USA.
Since his return from Seattle in 2010, Dr Chee has been teaching NDCS Periodontics residents on a weekly basis. He also taught Oral Health Therapists students from the School of Health Sciences, Nanyang Polyclinic, Singapore. Regularly, he shares his dental knowledge and skills through lectures and seminar presentations in NDCS to support the continuation of dental education.
Dr Chee began to delve into research In 2016. Encouraged by Professor Frank Abbas of the Faulty of Medical Sciences from the University of Groningen, Netherlands, he is now pursuing a PhD in periodontal medicine, specifically on periodontal health and its impact on diabetes mellitus.
Dr Chee had been actively serving in the Society of Periodontology, Singapore, in its Executive Committee from 2007-2016 and was its President from 2013-2016. He is also the faculty of the Singapore Healthcare Improvement Network (SHINe) since 2017.
