ACE Inhibitors

The ACE-inhibitors (Angiotensin Converting Enzyme) are used to reduce the production of a substance called angiotensin II that causes the blood vessels to narrow.

If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only the usual dose. Do not double the dosage.

If you are pregnant or planning to conceive, you should inform your doctor. The medicine should not be taken together with high doses of diuretics as this may give rise to low blood pressure. Your doctor may need to monitor you for electrolyte imbalances when you are on this medicine.

The most common side effect is a dry hacking cough that is persistent and annoying. Other side effects are rare and include rash, loss of taste and lightheadedness on getting up.

• Keep in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight
• Unless instructed otherwise, store your medicines in a cool, dry place and protect them from moisture, heat and direct sunlight.
  Store medicine in the original labelled container. Do not keep different types of medicine together in one container.
