Dr Chan Pei Yuan is a dedicated full-time clinician with National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) since 2010. Currently, she serves as a Senior Consultant within the Endodontics Unit of the Department of Restorative Dentistry. She completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2009 and was subsequently awarded a postgraduate sponsorship from NDCS to pursue a Masters of Dental Surgery in Endodontics at NUS from 2011 to 2014.
She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and is also registered with the Singapore Dental Specialist Accreditation Board. She is an active council member with the College of Dental Surgeons, Singapore (CDSS), and holds the position of Associate Programme Director of the Master of Dental Surgery (Endodontics) programme at the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS.
Dr Chan is a firm believer in rendering an uncompromising standard of care for her patients. She was awarded the NDCS SMile (Service with an extra Mile) Award since 2018 to 2024, the Star Award for Singapore Health Quality Service, SingHealth, in 2020, 2022 and 2026.
In her current role as Director, Primary Care and Community Partnership, Dr. Chan has been instrumental in leading community outreach initiatives, having served as the clinician lead for NDCS community outreach from 2018 to 2023. She is a strong advocate for improving oral health across the population through strategic partnerships with primary care providers and community screening programs. Her efforts have been recognized with the SingHealth RHS Population Health Development Programme grant for the Singapore Oral Health Movement 8020.
Dr Chan's research interests include cracked teeth, oral frailty, and the oral health of older adults in the community. She is the Principal Investigator for the NRMC-HNIG grant titled “Beyond Association, Seeking the Causal Relationship of Oral Frailty and Frailty Among Elderly Singaporeans: A Population-based Study.” Her work has been published in prestigious journals, including a notable study on the functional oral status and oral health‐related quality of life in community‐dwelling older adults in Singapore, featured in Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology.
