Dr Nattharee Chanchareonsook
Senior Consultant, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery & Deputy Head of Research, National Dental Centre Singapore
Senior Clinical Lecturer of the Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore (NUS).

Qualifications:
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Khon Kaen University, Thailand in 1998
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS,Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) from The University of Hong Kong in 2004
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Science from Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands in 2014.

Dr Nattharee has a passion for medical technology and believes in the importance of translational research to help improve the quality of patients’ lives. Her extensive clinical experience allows her to understand the clinical problem and anticipate patient requirements right from the start of the research work. Her research experience has trained her to be proficient in experimental planning and she keeps abreast of tissue engineering advances in the field. Her expertise in pre-clinical animal models and experience in clinical trials, coupled with the preliminary date which will be generated through the NCSS, will greatly improve her competitiveness at securing national level grants. Dr Nattharee’s goal of translating novel innovations into clinical applications is also in line with the Academic Medicine mission of improving patients’ lives through research, education and clinical care.

Dr Lim Wen Yi
Registrar

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (Singapore)
Master of Dental Surgery (Endodontics) (Singapore)
Membership in Endodontics, Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh)

Through the years, Dr Lim has developed and maintained a special interest in pulp biology, particularly in the management of vital inflamed pulps. She had previously researched on the histology of dental pulps with pulpitis indicated for partial pulpotomy during her endodontic training. She is currently supported under the Budding Clinician Researcher Scheme offered by NDCS to study the pathophysiology and wound healing of inflamed dental pulps, which forms the basis of her doctorate pursuit.

Dr Thanuja Darshani Herath
Research Fellow, National Dental Centre Singapore
Instructor, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School

Qualifications:
BSc (Hons), PhD, Dip.Immuno (Pasture-HKU)

Dr Thanuja Herath is a Molecular & Cellular Biologist with research focus on Immune-modulated bone bioengineering, dental tissue regeneration and host-microbial crosstalk. Dr Herath graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong. Then she moved to National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) as a Post-Doctoral Fellow. Currently, Dr Herath is working on immune-modulated bone bioengineering using animal models. She has developed cell-based and cell-free therapeutic approaches using neutrophils and exosomes for bone tissue engineering. Dr Herath successfully received NMRC-enabling funding from NDCS and SingHealth Foundation grant for her studies. Her recent studies on bone bioengineering and human monocyte response to bacterial endotoxin have received number of prestigious Awards from International Association for Dental Research (IADR).

Dr Yu Na
Senior Dental Surgeon, National Dental Centre Singapore
Assistant Professor, Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Wuhan University, China (2007)
Master of Dental Surgery (MDS), Wuhan University, China (2009)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Radboud University Nijmegen (2013)

Dr Yu Na is a Senior Dental Surgeon at National Dental Centre Singapore and Assistant Professor at the DUKE-NUS Medical School. Trained as a dentist in China, she subsequently obtained her PhD in medical science at faculty of dentistry from Radboud University Nijmegen in 2013. She is the first dentist in Singapore who has won NMRC Clinician-Scientist Transition Award. Much of her research work is focused on development of novel biomaterials for dental application, digital dentistry, tissue engineering for periodontal tissues.

Dr Liu Yuchun
Junior Principal Investigator, National Dental Centre Singapore

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering, Division of Bioengineering (B.Eng), National University of Singapore (2008)
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (2012)

Dr Liu's passion lies in clinical needs discovery, engineering innovative and practical solutions in the area of dentistry. She enjoys doing the ground-work and finding insights through talking to more people, understanding their needs and challenges, and seeing how these different perspectives shape the way the innovation will eventually be designed. She finds great joy in getting her hands dirty during prototype design and engineering, and is a firm believer that “there is no failure, only feedback”. Through her research work, she hope to create impactful value-driven dental medtech innovations that can bring about improved oral healthcare standards to people.
