Root canal treatment involves the removal of the inflamed or infected pulp tissues from the tooth. The pulp can be inflamed or infected due to

Signs of pulp damage may include prolonged sensitivity to heat or cold, spontaneous unprovoked pain, throbbing pain, discolouration of the tooth and tenderness of the overlying gums. On the other hand, there may be no symptoms at all. If pulp inflammation or infection is left untreated, it can eventually cause severe pain, swelling and loss of the supporting bone.
